The museum will be closing on September 1st, 2026 for the season! Keira is heading off to study in England, so we are very excited for her. We will be working this fall on our usual off season projects. We have a few rentals at the museum this fall as well. There is a new video on Youtube showcasing the 2026 Tuna Festival held at Ballantynes Cove. Soon we will also be putting together the 2027 calendar.
The Cape George Heritage Museum is a non-profit community organization run by volunteers. Initially, the museum was a place to showcase items that were relevant to life at Cape George, its people and how they lived. We have expanded to include the documentation, preservation and sharing of family histories, photographs, and the way life was lived and how it has changed over the years.
The museum relies on like-minded community members who contribute to what we hold and are committed to making it available for others. Everything on this site can be shared (noncommercial). It is our goal to continue to expand and grow our collection so that future generations will know about life on the shores of Nova Scotia and specifically Cape George.
If you would be interested in renting our facility during our off season, contact us with your request and we will see if we can accomodate you! We operate on a donation basis, so we ask any group renting the space, to make a donation based on their budget, to the museum to cover basic costs. Thanks!!
