Allan Adams, widely known resident of Livingston’s Cove, died Wednesday morning in St. Martha’s Hospital. He was 70 years of age. Born at Hillsborough , C.B., the son of the late Allan Adams and Margaret (MacEachern) Adams, he came with his parents to Livingston’s Cove when he was eight years old. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret MacDougall; two daughters Mrs. J. Everett Fisher (Jannetta), Shawinigan Falls, P.Q. and Mrs. Neil Matheson (Margaret), Waterdown Mass.; and three sons, James, Antigonish; Alex, Cape George, and Huntley at home. Mr. Adams was a staunch member of the United Church. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
Antigonish, March 17, 1948 – An outstanding Antigonish County farmer, Allan Adams of Livingstone’s Cove, passed away at St. Martha’s Hospital today following an illness of ten days in his 71st year. Mr. Adams had been indifferent health for some time. Son of the late Allan Adams and Margaret (MacEachern) Adams, he was born at Hillsboro, Cape Breton in 1877, and at the age of eight went to Livingstone’s Cove to live with his maternal grandfather, the late Allan MacEachern. Close application to his task and scientific methods earned for Mr. Adams a place among the county’s leading farmers. He had been for many years road foreman in the north side of Cape George district with the Department of Highways. A member of St. David’s United Church at Cape George of which he was a trustee and pillar in particular has suffered a loss. Surviving besides his widow, Margaret are two daughters, Mrs. Everett Fisher (Jeanette), Shawinigan Falls, Que.; Mrs. Neil Matheson (Margaret), Brookline, Mass.; three sons James A., Antigonish; Alexander D., Cape George and William Huntley, at home; 15 grandchildren, two brothers, John Adams, Point of Cape George, Alexander, Melrose, Mass., two sisters, Mrs. Deardon (Margaret) Boston, and Mrs. Alexander Camerson (Daisy), Stellarton. Funeral at St. David’s and buried there as well.
