Back of the wharf. Old fish plant gone and newer building there, but before pound was built. Approximately 1987/88. Dougall’s shack is still there along the hill. The setup around the building is for processing herring roe. The workers would work 12 hour shifts, standing the whole time. There were day and night shifts. The white trailers held blast freezers to freeze the roe. Workers would come in by bus and kids as young as 14 worked for $3.75 an hour. Reports that some kids would work the nightshift then go to school.
