MacLean – At her home, 4 Catherine St., Glace Bay, January 10, 1931, Mrs. Annie MacLean, Widow of late James MacLean, Bay Street, Antigonish. Mrs. MacLean, who went to Glace Bay, 21 years ago, was born at Georgeville, Antigonish Co., 80 years ago. She was a daughter of the late Duncan MacDougall and Katherine MacDonald, and her brothers and sisters died a number of years ago. She was the last member of her family well known in the early life of Antigonish, among those near relatives were many well known priests of the diocese, all deceased. She leaves to mourn their loss seven daughters : Mrs. M.T. Sullivan, Mrs. F.W. Merchant, Mrs. E. Bergeron, Mrs. Josephine, Mrs. Tom MacDonald, and Margaret, Rebecca and Josephine, R.N. Her only son Dan R. Died two years ago. Mrs. MacLean was a good mother, devoted to her family, kind to all neighbors and friends and especially to those who were ill or in sorrow, whom she was ever ready to help. A devout Catholic she was consoled in her illness by the reception of all the rites of Holy Mother church. Her remains left Glace Bay, Jan. 12 accompanied by four daughters; Misses margaret, Rebecca, Josephine, Mrs. Tom MacDonald and Mrs. D.R. MacLean, F.W. Merchant and two sons, Fred and Vaughan, also a niece Mrs. James Fitzpatrick, Stellarton. Arriving in Antigonish, her remains were taken to the home of Mrs. A.K. Macdonald, Church St. where many friends came from far and near to see for the last time one who in her lifetime in Antigonish was a good friend and neighbor to many. After high mass at St. Ninian’s Cathedral by Rev. Lewis MacLellan her remains were laid to rest in the family lot beside her husband and daughter……..
