1907 Petition South Side Cape George Agricultural Society.

Petition dated 18 Mar 1907 from the South Side Cape George Agricultural Society to the Governor in Council requesting that the money provided the society be increased.

To His Honor
The Lieutenant Governor in Council. Halifax NS.
In the name of the South Side Cape George Agricultural Society I wish to humbly request that the provincial grant to the agricultural society be increased the following are the principal reasons why such an increase is very desirable.
1st it seems to be the most direct way of benefiting the ordinary every day farmer.
2nd many of the societies at present find it very hard to exist.
3rd that when there is but a bare existence it is almost impossible for those interested to do the best towards the improvement of ???
4th there is no encouragement to ??? the people while an increase of societies and increased membership tend to lessen the grant as being as long as their but a limited ??? expended for this purpose.
We therefore request an increase of grant so that it will be at least dollar for dollar paid by the farmer and further more that each society be permitted to use said funds if they are desirable so doing for the purpose of sending a student to the short courses at the Agricultural colleges from year to year.
