Boyd, Daniel “Danny” Joseph, age 55 of Cape George, Antigonish County (and formerly from Morristown) passed away on February 13, 2025 as a result of an automobile accident.  Born in Guysborough, September 27, 1969, he was the son of Brian and Kay (Gerrior) Boyd.  Besides his parents he is survived by his siblings: Jacqueline (PEI), Steven (Karin), Morristown, Tanya, Morristown, Tracy, Glen Air Estates, Craig (Lisa), Morristown, special friend Charlene Falkenham, godchild Savannah and many nieces and nephews.  Danny is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Josie and Helen Boyd, his maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Mabel Gerrior, and sisters Marsha Lynn in infancy, and Melissa Anne.  

With Danny’s trade as a pipefitter he traveled to the west for many years and was rewarded by all the friendships he made along the way.  Danny was a proud member of Local 488 Edmonton, Alberta.  Coming from a long family of fisherman, Danny was a fisherman helper for many of the local captains within the community.  Danny loved the outdoors, and he was a lover of animals.  He had a heart of gold and loved spending time with his family, who meant the world to him.  Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Monday, February 24th  from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.  Funeral Mass will be in St. Columba Church, Lakevale on Tuesday, February 25th at 10:00 am with Father Andrew Boyd presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Antigonish County District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Hwy. 104 in Linwood.

On February 13, at approximately 12:56 p.m., Antigonish County District RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 104 in Linwood. RCMP officers learned that a westbound Chevrolet Impala and an eastbound tractor trailer collided head on.  The driver and sole occupant of the Impala, a 55-year-old man from Antigonish County, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 59-year-old man from Baddeck, suffered minor injuries.  An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing. Hwy. 104 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
