Funeral Services for the late Florence M. “Flossie” Brown, 69, The Heights, took place April 6, in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, with Rev. Vince MacLeallan officiating.  Burial was in St. George’s Cemetery, Georgeville.  Mrs. Brown died April 3, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Readers at the Mass were Sandy Chisholm, Mary Gillis and David Landry.  Active pallbearers were Carol Brown, Robert Chisholm, David Landry, Jim Duggan, Oman MacGillivray and Robert MacDonald.  Honorary pallbearers were Mary MacDougall, Sally MacDonald, Geraldine MacSween, Ann Anstey, Camilla Pembroke, Effie Duggan, Alana Whidden and Doris MacGillivray.  Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, She was a daughter of the late Cyrus and Ellen MacKenzie.  She devoted her life to her family and was a long-time member of St. Ninan’s  CWL Council.  She spent many summers with family and friends at her cottage in Livingstone’s Cove. For years she was a foster mother to many children in the area.  She is survived by a daughter, Alice (Mrs. Jack) Eagles, Brighton, Ont.; four sons, Tom (wife Tish) Livingstone’s cove; Donnie, Vancouver, B.C.; Michael, Antigonish; and Bob, Halifax; a sister Maisie Brown, Antigonish; and many grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, Gillis, in December 1996.
