Cameron, Ita (MacGillivray)

12 Jan 1946  Ita Cameron (MacGillivray)

The death took place at her home, 52 Pearson Road, West Somerville, Saturday, January 12, of Mrs. Allan Cameron, nee Ita MacGillivray, South Side Cape George, Antigonish.  An operation some months previous to her passing left Mrs. Cameron in a delicate state of health, but with will to live and every care and attention on the part of her family she made a partial recovery.  A recurrence of illness proved too much for her heart and after a brief period of suffering, borne cheerfully and  resignedly, Mrs. Cameron passed to God having received the last Sacraments of the Catholic Church with the livelist faith and devotion.  These comforting rites were administered by her pastor, the Rt. Reverend Monsignor Barry, D.D.  The last Mrs. Cameron was the exemplary Catholic wife and mother, deeply devoted to her home and family, loyal to her friends and charitable  to all.  Her passing to God, as her tranquil life, was, peaceful and edifying.  To mourn her loss, she leaves her sorrowing husband, three daughters, and two sons:  Allan, who arrived before his mother’s death by plane from England; John in the U.S. Navy, unable to go home; Mary, Eleanor and Virginia, all at home; as well as an adopted nephew, John Joseph MacGillivray.  Surviving sisters of the deceased are;  The Reverend Sister St. John of Grenada, Congregation de Notre Dame, Montreal; the Reverend Sister M. Rita, Congregation of St. Martha, Edmonton; Selina, R.N., New York; an adopted sister Margaret, St. John’s convent, New Glasgow; one brother, John, predeceased her by a few years; an adopted brother Frank Carrigan resides in New York.   Mrs. Christina MacEachern, Pleasant St., Antigonish, and Mrs. Eunice Boyd, West Lakevale, are aunts, William MacGillivray, Vancouver, is an uncle.  Solemn high Mass of requiem was offered by the Rt. Reverend Monsignor Barry, who also conducted the burial service at the cemetery.  Exquisite floral offerings, messages of sympathy, spiritual bouquets, and Mass offerings testified to the widespread circle of friends, who are saddened by the death of the quiet, refined, highly esteemed lady, Mrs. Allan Cameron.
