John MacNeil, aged 72, died suddenly at Georgeville New Year’s morning about 10 o’clock. Father Campmbell was called and gave the last rites of the Church. Mr. MacNeil was preparing to go to Mass and was watering his horse at his barn when the fatal heart attack brought his early activities to an end.  He is survived by his wife and by one daughter, Miss Christina, teacher at West Lakevale.  The funeral took place Sunday at Georgeville.

MacNeil – John H. MacNeil aged 72 passed away suddenly at his home at Georgeville New Year’s day, 1937, when he suffered a heart attack from which he failed to rally.  The last rites of the Catholic Church, of which he was always a devout member, were administered by Rev. Blase Campbell, P.P. , who a few days previously had received him in the tribunal of penance and given him the Bread of Life – a great consolation to his family and may friends who were startled at the awful suddenness of the call.  Deceased was the last surviving member of the family of the late Donald MacNeil and Mary MacDonald.  By his passing the community, of which he was a life-long resident, has lost a most honourable and highly respected citizen.  He was a loyal Catholic , zealous in the fulfillment of his religious duties, kind and cheerful in disposition, and never was known to utter uncharitable remarks regarding others.  He is survived by his sorrowing wife and one daughter Christena, who will fondly cherish the memory of a loving  husband and father.  Four of his children predeceased him.  The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, Jan 3, and was largely attended .  Rev. Blase Campbell, P.P., conducted the services in the church and also officiated at the grave.
