Funeral services were held Monday in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, for the late Laughlin B. MacInnis, 70, of West River, Antigonish County, with Rev. A.J. MacLeod and the deceased’s brother-in-law, Rev. John V. Campbell, officiating. Mr. macInnis died December 18 in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Pallbearers were John Dand Heffernan, Hughie Dan MacNeil, Steve MacInnis, Colin Campbell, Mike Campbell, Donnie MacDonald. Burial will be in Georgeville Cemetery at a later date. Born in Georgeville, Antigonish County, he was a son of the late Dan A. and Martha (MacEachern) MacInnis. He was a former employee of The Halifax Herald Limited. He later worked as an automobile salesman. A veteran of the Second World War, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, the former Effie Campbell; two sons, Bernard H., Woodstock, New Brunswick; and Duncan X., Arisaig, Antigonish County; three daughters, Martha Elaine (Mrs Harold) Cormier, Amherst; Bernice A., Ottawa; and Mary Noella, at home; five brothers, Alexander, New Glasgow; Gillis, Arisaig, Leo, Georgeville, Angus, Moncton, and Donald, Antigonish; two sisters, Isabel (Mrs. Mark) MacInnis, Cape George; and Sally (Mrs. Ed) King, Norwood, Massachusetts, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Hughie.
