On March 12, 1946, there died Angus MacLean, well known farmer of Georgeville, Antigonish Co. He had been in poor health the past seven months but his death was a shock to his many friends and neighbors. Born at Georgeville, February 27, 1868, he followed the sea for many aers and spent some time in the lumber woods of western U.S.A. Returning to the land of his birth about forty-five years ago, he settled on the old homestead and later married Mary MacNeil, Morar, who predeceased him by seven years. A model neighbor, he was always ready with a helping hand to aid his neighbors or anyone in need, but will be best remembered for his hospitality. His home was a favorite meeting place for friends and neighbors. Consoled by the last rites of the Catholic Church, he peacefully passed away. His remains were laid to rest in St. George’s cemetery March 15, after requiem Mass celebrated by his pastor, Rev. Roderick MacPhrson, who als officiated at the grave. To mourn their loss he leaves two daughters, and three sons: Joseph at home; John, Antigonish; and LAC Alexander, with the occupied forces in Germany; also one sister, Mrs. Angus MacNeil , Antigonish.
