MacLeod, Mary Frances “Minnie” (MacDonald)

GLACE BAY – Mrs. Mary Frances MacLeod, 94, of 130 Reeves Street, Sydney, formerly of Reserve Mines, died Wednesday in Harbour view Hospital, Sydney Mines.   Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary MacDonald.  She was a graduate of Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Glace Bay.  She was a veteran of the First World War and served overseas with the Saint Francis Xavier Medical Unit, seeing active service in France and England.  Following her discharge she became a night supervisor at a hospital in Greenville, S.C.   She resided for a time with her niece Bertha (Mrs. Robert Beaton) in Pictou.  She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Reserve and a life honorary member of the CWL. She was also a member of Saint Joseph Hospital Alumni and the Glace Bay Legion, Branch No. 3.   She is survived by several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, John A.; two sisters Eunice and Annie; four brothers, John, Dan A., Colin and Angus.  The body is in the V.J. McGillivary Funeral Home, Glace Bay.  Funeral will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Saint Joseph Church with burial in Our Lady of Loudes Cemetery, Stelarton.
