9 Sep 1976 – Thelma Burke (MacEachern)
Thelma Burke, 58, of Halifax, a retired registered nurse, died September 9 in Victoria General Hospital. The funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Stephen’s Church on Monday and burial was in Gate of Heaven cemetery, Lower Sackville. Mrs. Burke was the daughter of the late William and Catherine MacEachern of Livingstones Cove. She had worked at the Halifax Infirmary for a number of years before she retired in 1974. Surviving are two daughters, Heather (Mrs. Gerald Goneau) and Brenda (Mrs. Bill Spears), and sons David and Bradley, all of Halifax; five sisters, Florence (Mrs. Carol Schilling), Toronto; Margaret (Mrs. Angus MacEachern), Rita (Mrs. John MacDonald), Catherine (Mrs. John Gillis), and Elizabeth, all of Antigonish; and a brother , John Hugh, also of Antigonish. She was predeceased by her husband David, sister Ruth (Mrs. Earl Diggins) and brother Mark.
