4 Apr 1940 – Matilda MacInnis (MacEachern)
There died at South Side Cape George, Ant. Co., April 4, 1940, Mrs. John W. MacInnis, aged 75 years. Mrs. MacInnis was a woman of unblemished character, kind and charitable. She had been in ill health for several years and endured her sufferings with extreme patience. Over her whole soul was diffused a truly Christian contentment; She was contented with God, with His gifts and benefactions, with His guidance even in sufferings, with the age granted to her, with the premonition of death’s near approach. She was indeed content with everything and everybody. Fortified with the last rites of Mother Church she peacefully passed away fully resigned to God’s Will. Her husband predeceased her by some twenty years. She leaves to mourn their loss four sons and five daughters; Colin and Dan Hugh at home; William, Ossining, N.Y.; Luke in Saskatchewan; Mrs. O’Hara, Mary and Elizabeth, Boston; Mrs. Gameatin in Saskatchewan; and Mrs. Wm. J. MacEachern, Livingstone’s Cove. Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters; L.J. MacEachern, Antigonish; Dan, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. A.D. MacGillivray, Antigonish; Mrs. Hector MacDonald, Marydale; and Mrs. Angus MacGillivray, Lakevale. On April 6, her remains were tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery of the Holy Rosary, Ballantyne’s Cove, after a high Mass of requiem celebrated by her pastor, Rev. D. Beaton. R.I.P
