Adams, Redmond Keith “Keithie”, age 78 of Lakevale, Antigonish Co. passed away peacefully on
April 4th, 2021 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by his loving family and Rev. Peter Smith after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Alex and Ella (MacPhie) Adams. Keithie worked hard his entire life, first as a young boy on the family farm at Cape George, then worked in Toronto in construction, Vanderhoof B.C. in the logging industry, and returned home to lobster fish at Ballantyne’s Cove for the past 60 years where he was in his element. His passions included spending time up at his log cabin as a teenager with his siblings and friends, driving his blue convertible, collecting antique vehicles, and restoring his Heritage home into which he had moved – previously the dwelling built in 1908 at Cape George Lighthouse. He had a great knowledge of family history, including local history. He also enjoyed storytelling and being surrounded by family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored. He was a member of St. James United Church, Antigonish and St. David’s United Church, Cape George. He is survived by his loving children, Catherine (David Powers) and Carroll, and their mother Diane Adams of Antigonish; four grandchildren, Leah (Kyle), Carly (Sarah), Laura Lee (Stanley), and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Jack and Kaden; siblings, Allan, Brian, Karen, Kevin, Ellen, Gordon, and Teddy; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Christopher; siblings Forbes, Wayne, Fred, Gary, Lois, and Roddy; niece, Natalie; and nephews, Matthew, Mitchell, and Todd. Visitation will be held Friday, April 9, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Social distancing protocols must be followed, and masks are mandatory. Funeral Service in St. David’s Cemetery, Cape George at a later date, with Rev. Peter Smith presiding. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Dr. Steve Gallant, Dr. R.
