Woodburn – Mrs. Alice Miller Ballantyne, Valley View, Riverton formerly of Woodburn, PIctou Co., died Monday, February 19, 2001 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late George MacPherson and Annie Jane (Fraser) MacDonald. She was a member of Little Harbor Presbyterian Church, LIttle Harbour and a past member of the Ladies Aid and Choir. Surviving are her grandchildren: Claire (George) Tulle, Calgary, AB; Karen (Murdo) MacNeil, New Glasgow; Bryan (KIm) Ballantyne, New Market, ON; Heather (Dom) Chieffo, Calgary. “Grannie B” was dearly loved by her nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Lou (Alfred) Greene, Woodburn; sisters: Lou (Alfred) Greene, Woodburn; Jean Newman, New Glasgow; Margaret (Clyde) Urquhart, Pictou Landing; a niece, Sandra (Jack) Burgess, Fall River; daughter-in-law, Catherine A. Freeborn, Woodburn. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Olding Ballantyne; son, George Howard Ballantyne; brothers, Scott in infancy and Allister. Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Little Harbour Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joanne Vines officiating. Interment will be in Woodburn Cemetery at a later date.
