Cape George Resident Mourned. Funeral services were held last week in St. James United Church for Elizabeth Henrietta (Bessie) Ballantyne, widow of Ernest Pitblado Ballantyne of Cape George, who died in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax on January 24. Burial will be in St. David’s United Church cemetery, Cape George. The honorary pallbearers were Malcolm MacEachern, Alex Adams, Larry Roberts, Angus Macgillivray, Kimball Falkenham and Buddy MacEachern. The active pallbearers were six grandchildren: Harold Wallace, Brad, Philip and Stewart Murray, David MacIntyre and Gordon Webber. Mrs. Ballantyne was a daughter of Catherine and William MacPhee of Cape George, She was a member of St. David’s United Church ladies Auxiliary, Arras Branch Royal Canadian Legion, and a charter member of the Home and School association. She is survived by five daughters, Violet Haskett, Cape George; Helen (Mrs. Frank Wallace), Lakevale; Mabel Murray, Stellarton; Elizabeth (Mrs. R.G.R. Webber), Halifax; Jean (Mrs. G. Ross Langley), Halifax; three sons, William, Ontario; Gerald and Harold, Cape George; 32 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret, Cape George, and Kathleen Thompson, Halifax; and brother Harold, Cape George. She was predeceased by daughter Eleanor, son Leonard Forbes, brothers Irving, Matthew and Leonard, sister Mabel and four grandchildren.
