On May 22 at Cape George, George Ballantyne, Elder in the Presbyterian Church; born in Merigomish 1794, but was removed in early childhood with his father to Cape George where he resided until his death, held in high esteem by all who knew him. His loss will be much felt by the little band of Protestants in the Cape,as he took a warm and active interest in all the matters that pertained to the good of Zion. His home was the abode of hospitality, and none were more welcome than ministers of the gospel, in whose society he delighted and for whom he always kept an open door. Havind adorned by a consistent life the doctrine of God his Saviour, he passed away in the full assurance of hope, leaving behind him an aged widow, several sons and daughters and numerous friends to mourn his loss.
