1 Nov 1946 – J.F. Forbes Ballantyne
A tragic accident at Pomquet, Nov 1, 1946, claimed the life of Forbes Ballantyne, well known resident of Ballantyne’s Cove, aged 57. Deceased was the son of the late Mr and Mrs Stewart Ballantyne. Just a year ago he married Catherine Gillis, daughter of John H. Gillis, North Lochaber, and besides her, he is survived by two brothers and one sister; George in Minneapolis, Smith in Cochrane, Ont., and Mrs. Bessie Morrell, Boston. Two sisters and one brother predeceased him. The funeral of the late Mr. Ballantyne was held at St. David’s United Church, Cape George, the following Sunday, with services conducted by Rev. E.B.S. Miller, Antigonish. Veterans of both wars attended in a body.
