25 Nov 1938 Barbara Brown (Forbes)
Mrs. J.D. Brown
There died at St. Martha’s Hospital, fortified by the last rites of the Church, Nov. 25, 1938, Barbara, wife of John D. Brown. Livingstone’s Cove, and daughter of Mr and Mrs Alex Forbes, Marydale, Antigonish Co. Three weeks previous to her death, she entered hospital for treatment. Everything that medical science, and kind, skilled nursing could do was done to save her, but God ordained otherwise, and this happy bride of less than four months breathed fourth her spirit into the hands of her Creator. For several years, she taught school in different part of the county with marked success, being ever the kind, patient and efficient teacher, Beside her disconsolate husband and parents, she is survived by eight sisters and four brothers; Jennie, teacher at the Indian Reservation, Afton; Margaret, student nurse, St. Martha’s Hospital; Isobel, teacher, Cape George; Christine, teacher, West Lakevale; Mary, Jean, Florence, Celia, Duncan, Allister, Valentine and Bill all at home. Her funeral at Georgeville took place Sunday afternoon, Nove. 27. Despite the stormy weather it was one of the largest ever seen in that district, sympathetic friends coming from far and near to pay her this last token of respect. The services were conducted by the parish priest Rev. Blase Campbell.
