Funeral services for the late Margaret Chisholm, 97, of Antigonish and formerly of St. Ninian Street, were held today (Wednesday) in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Chisholm died May 11 in St. Martha’s Hospital. Pallbearers were Albert Chisholm, Joe Chisholm, Lloyd Bethune, Charlie Chisholm, Harold Chisholm and Gerard Chisholm. Born at Cape George, she was a daughter of the late Duncan J. and Christina (MacDonald) MacDonald. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by six daughters, Mary Jane (Mrs. Harold) Smith, Windsor; Marie (Mrs. Raymond) Lake, Kentville; Rose (Mrs Real) Liboiron, Montreal; Isabel (Mrs. Ed) Bethune, Antigonish; Mary (Mrs. Jack) Adderly, Yellowknife; and Christine (Babe)(Mrs. Bob) Hackett, Hamilton, Ont.; four sons, Dan, Pictou; Joe, Grand and Sylvester, all of Antigonish; 49 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Valentine; five brothers and four sisters.
