Her name was Sadie (MacEachern) Chisholm, but she was generally known as Mrs. Jack Chisholm.   This designation may be taken as acknowledgement of the primary role Mrs. Chisholm filled as wife and mother. She had thirteen children, eleven by whom are living.  Many of these children were born and raised during the Great Depression years where her husband, a respected local businessman of sterling integrity, strove to support his growing family.  Mothers of large families in modest circumstances do not have it easy.  The fact that Mrs. Chisholm and her husband maintained high standards of education  and social responsibility for their children speaks highly of their characters and industry.  Mrs. Chisholm’s death last week combines the loss of a good neighbor, a faithful parishioner of St. Ninian’s, and a beloved mother.  If ever the tem “good and faithful servant” may be applied to one of the people of God, it is due Mrs. Jack Chisholm.
