Leo Roberts of Ballantyne’s Cove was attending a commercial course in 1912 – 1913 at St F X. He offered his services as manager of this team at the age of 17 years. Upon completion of his schooling Mr Roberts worked in Florida. His father died in 1928 and Mr Roberts came back to Antigonish County to inherit the family property at Ballantyne’s Cove. He operated St George’s Co-Op Store at the wharf and served as Postmaster from March 31, 1928 until its closure in 1949. He was involved in the Fisherman’s Co-Op movement.
