At Somerville Hospital, Mass., June 25, 1932, James D. Gillis aged 28 years, beloved husband of Sadie (MacNeil) Gillis. He was always a devout member of the Catholic Church, and passed away peacefully, consoled by its last rites, after an illness of only eight days. He was well liked by all who knew him and the many expressions of sympathy, the receiving of many Mass cards and flowers were beautiful expressions of the esteem in which decreased was held. He leaves to mourn besides his sorrowing wife, two sisters, Mrs. Ronald MacDonald, Lennox, Antigonish, N.S., and Carrie in Kentville, N.S., also two brothers, Steve in Victoria B.C., and John in Antigonish. Deceased was a son of the late Mr and Mrs James Andrew Gillis of Morar, Antigonish, N.S. On June 28, his funeral took place from his home to St. Polycarps church, Somerville. After Requiem High Mass by his parish priest his remains were laid to rest in St. Benedict’s cemetery.
