Funeral Services for the late John R. Gillis, 66, of Livingstone Cove, Antigonish County, were held on January 15 in St. George’s Church, Georgeville, with Rev. Angus MacGillivray officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.   Mr. Gillis died in St. Martha’s Hospital on January 12.   Active pallbearers were Alexander Adams, Michael Novak, Vincent Novak, Robert Linkletter, John Hugh MacEachern and Roddie Heffernan.  Honorary pallbearers ·were nephews Sandy Chisholm, Gerard Chisholm, Donald Chisholm, John R. Chisholm, Gerard

MacDougall, John Halloran, Billy MacDonald and George MacDonald.  Born in Livingstone Cove, he was a son of the late Neil and Florence (MacKinnon) Gillis.  He was a farmer and also worked with the Department of Transportation as a snowplow operator. He served with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps during World War II.  He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary Chisholm, Ohio, Antigonish County; Mrs. Margaret Halloran, St. Andrews; and Mrs. Florence MacDougall, Livingstone Cove.  He was predeceased by a   brother, Joseph; a sister, Florence; and three infant brothers.
