Neil Gillis, 79 passed away suddenly at his home at Livingstone’s Cove. Born at Georgeville, he was the son of John Angus and Isabelle (MacDonald) Gillis and moved to Livingstone’s Cove 44 years ago where he operated a farm. He was a kind and cheerful and will be greatly missed by his family and a large circle of friends. Surviving are his widow the former Florence MacKinnon, four daughters and a son; Mary (Mrs. Hugh R. Chisholm), Ohio; Helen (Mrs. Angus MacDougall), Georgeville; Margaret ( Mrs. Lawrence Halloran), St. Andrews; Florence (Mrs. Hugh MacDonald), Ohio; and John on the old homestead. A son Joseph was killed 17 years ago. Also surviving are an adopted daughter Christina in Ontario, four sisters in the United States, a duster and brother in Nova Scotia and 23 grandchildren. Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. George’s Church. Altar boys were Neil and Sandy Chisholm, grandsons and Donnie Heffernan, a nephew. Pallbearers were Alex MacMillan, Alex Adams, Joe Brown, Mark MacEachern, Hugh MacPherson and Mike Novak.
