Funeral services were held last Friday for the late Sarah Ann (Sadie) Gillis, 82, of R.K, MacDonald Nursing Home, in St. George’s Church, Georgeville, with Rev. Angus MacGillivray officiating. Mrs. Gillis died December 1 in the R.K, MacDonald Nursing Home. Pallbearers were all grandsons, Robert Smith, Alexander and Vincent Novak, Carl and Gerard Brown, and Darryl MacEachern. Born in Lismore, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (MacDonald) MacKinnon. She was a member of the St George’s Alter Society, Georgeville. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Mary C. Brown, Livingstones Cove; Christina (Mrs. Gillis) MacEachern, Antigonish; Florence (Mrs. Prescott) Smith, Sylvan Valley; Sally (Mrs Mike Novak), West River; Frances (Mrs. Ansel) Adams, Galt, Ontario; Barbara (Mrs. Jacques) Belanger, Verdun, P.Q.; three sons, John, Georgeville; Lawrence, Morar, Antigonish County; Andrew, Toronto; 45 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased b their husband, Alexander Joseph; two sons, Alexander and Bernard; two grandchildren; and three sisters, Florence, Christina and Margaret.
