Goodwin, Mary Agnes (McItnyre & McInnis)

Former Islander – Word has been received in Grand River, of the death in Boston on Sunday, March 14th, 1926, of Mrs. J. Goodwin, at the age of fifty years.  Mrs. Goodwin formerly Mary Agnes McIntyre, was born in Bayside on “The Big Marsh” as it was then called and was the daughter of the late Alexander McIntyre and his second wife Christina Gillis McIntyre.  She was adopted by her grandmother the late Mrs. Roderick Gillis, and remained with her till early womanhood when like so many others she went to the States to seek her fortune.  She was first married to Mr. Michael McInnis and of this happy union  three children, Christene, Alexander, and Joseph were born.  Mr. McInnis was never robust and died early in life.  Later she married Mr. Goodwin and he with the above named children mourn her loss.  She leaves also a large number of sisters and brothers among who are Augustine and James McIntyre, P.E.I., Dan, Aeneas McIntyre, Bathurst, N.B.; Mandy, Alexander, Willie, Dr. Frank, Maggie and Annie in the United States.  Among the pall bearers  at her funeral  were the following Islanders –  Dr. J.B. Brown, Messrs. Linus McDonald, James J. McIntyre and J Blizzard.  May she rest in Peace.
