Grant, Angeline

26 Jan 2015

It is with great sadness and a profound sense of loss that the family of Angeline Grant, 85, of St. Mary’s Street, Antigonish, announce her peaceful passing on January 26 , 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.

Angeline, a woman of strong faith was born June 25, 1929, in Cape George; she was a daughter of the late Sandy Malcolm and Mary Kate (MacDougall) MacEachern. She is once again reunited with her husband of 66 years, George, who preceded her in 2013. She was a 50 year member of the St. Ninain’s CWL, the Parents Auxiliary Antigonish Legion Pipe Band, a longtime employee of Silver Cleaners and a dedicated fan of the Antigonish Junior A Bulldogs. Angeline was a very kind, generous, loving and positive lady who would share, without hesitation, anything she had with others. Many enjoyed her famous biscuits and cinnamon rolls, Christmas baskets of preserves and home baking, a knitted pair of mittens or a shared cup of tea. The love of family was paramount to her and family gatherings, be it the Highland Games or a Cape George Camper get-togethers, were opportunities for family fun and a feast of home cooking. Watching a concert where her grandchildren were performing, attending a highland dancing competition, cheering at a horse barrel race or treating the grandchildren to a Halloween treat bag brought an extra twinkle to her eye and a smile to her face. We will miss her sense of humor and her warm hugs.

She is survived by children Alex (Gwen), Ed (Joan), Dan (Shelia), Doreen and Kevin and foster daughter Diane Roberts, all of Antigonish, special sisters Mary (Ranald) Gillis, Antigonish and Margie (John) Adams, Scarbourgh, ON and brother Malcolm (Joan) MacEachern, Antigonish, and her cuddly little dog Gingus.

She is also survived by grand-children, Shauna (Bryan), Andrea (Chris), Stephanie, Julie (Shane), Sandy (Courtney), Kurt, Todd (Christina), Kara (Dylan), Jaime (Blair), and Jed; foster grandchildren Denise (David) Hatchette and Cindy

Smith; great grandchildren, Emma, Megan, Oliver, Mathew, Elisabeth, Owen, Mia and Torey; foster great grandchildren Matthew, Jaime, Lindsay, Maggie Smith, Diana and Brooke Hatchette.

She was predeceased by brothers Hughie Bernard, Gillis, Albert, sister Mary Katherine (in infancy) and sisters-in-law, Chrissie and Kay.
