A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Columba Church, Lakevale, for Ralph Bruce Hawes, 55, of Antigonish Harbour, who died in St. Martha’s Hospital on November 27. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The honorary pallbearers were Early Allan, Joseph Grant, Garfield MacKenzie, A.J. MacKenzie, Alex Boyd and Reg Horton. The active pallbearers were Pat Farrell, Edward Mahoney, Bill Mahoney, Joseph Chisholm, Vincent Boudreau and Bill Boudreau. Mr. Hawes had worked for Antigonish Poultry Ltd. before he became disabled five years ago. He was born in Louisbourg, a son of Almon and Eunice (MacIsaac) Hawes, and had lived in Antigonish County for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Celia Ann Delaney of Lakevale; three sons, Carmen, Halifax; Douglas and Paul, at home; three sisters, Hilda (Mrs. L.R. Jackson), Florida; Gladys (Mrs. J.J. Gillis), Norwood, Mass.; and Evelyn Brown, Windsor, Ontario.
