On December 2, there died Michael Heffernan, at the advanced age of eighty-eight years, Deceased had been in failing health for a number of years, and had made his home with Mrs. Catherine Heffernan, for several years. He was of a kind and gentle disposition, and leaves to mourn their loss his sorrowing widow, Annie Heffernan, two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Catherine Carmichael, Mrs. Angus MacIsaac, and James Heffernan, B.C. The last rites of the Catholic Church were administered by Rev. D. McEachern, Arisaig, who also officiated at the graveside.
