Huntley, Francis Vincent “Vince” – It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Vincent Huntley, 59, of Antigonish, announce his passing on July 5, 2011, at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish on May 18, 1952, he was the son of Tom Huntley and the late Mary (Gillis) Huntley of Big Marsh, Antigonish County. Vince worked 31 years for Access Nova Scotia as a Driver Enhancement Officer and was a Commissioner of Oaths for the province of Nova Scotia. Vince was a member of the St. Francis Xavier University alumni family. He was a past president of Arras Branch 59 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Antigonish, serving on numerous committees. His incredible leadership skills and deep sense of moral duty proved advantageous during these times. Vince will be kindly remembered for his generous nature and his true friendships to many who needed him over the years. His great sense of humour and caring soul will never be forgotten by his family and friends. Vince will also be remembered for the many weddings, dances, and anniversary celebrations he played with “Stereo World”. Family and friends, along with their many children, will never forget the wonderful Christmases Vince hosted over the years with lots of music, laughter, and that special visit from Santa. he will also be fondly remembered as an avid hockey fan, as he followed the careers of many stars such as Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, and Marty Broudeur, and as a great Hank Snow fan. You’re “moving on”, Vince, and we love you deeply and will miss you greatly. Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Frances, Regina, Sask.; his brothers Daniel and Archie (Jody), Big Marsh. Also left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews, Daniel Archie Huntley, Fort McMurray, Alberta, James Gillis Huntley, Antigonish, John William Huntley, Lauren Sarah Huntley, and Johanna Maria Huntley, all of Big Marsh, Brian MacDonald, Vancouver, Erick MacDonald, Edmonton, Allan Case, Antigonish, Kelly (Jake) Gottschall, Antigonish, and Michael and Emily Pass, Charlottetown; and his nephew and godson Johnathan Gottschall, Antigonish. Vince will be sorely missed by his sisters-in-law Linda Gottschall, Antigonish, and Kathy (Eric) Gottschall-Pass, Charlottetown and brothers-in-law John (Delima) Gottschall and David (Norma) Gottschall, of Antigonish. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 21, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 22, in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish, at 10:00am, with Reverend Tom MacNeil presiding. Burial in St. George Cemetery, Georgeville.
