This shows the first and second lighthouses that were at the Cape George Point. The second and newer freestanding lighthouse was built in 1908. At the same time a separate house was also built for the light keeper and his family. It is not clear what happened to the house with the light on top. It is suggested in various references that it was burned down. What is uncertain is if this was an accident or done on purpose to clear the area.
