Dec 1969 Cassie MacDonald (MacDonald)
Cassie MacDonald, widow of Frank MacDonald, died at the R.K, MacDonald Guest House where she had resided for the past 14 months. She was 83 years old. She is survived by a brother and sister, Mrs Mary Anne MaCdonald and Stephen Macdonald, Antigonish. Following the funeral Requiem, interment was in Georgeville cemetery. Pallbearers were John MacDonald, Bill MacKinnon, Daugall MacDonald, Michael Chisholm, Leo MacInnis, and Lauchie MacDonald. Daughter of John and Flora (MacNeil) MacDonald, she was born in Georgeville and married Frank MacDonald in 1908 in Nelson, British Columbia. The couple resided in Phoenix where he was carpenter foreman for 15 years with the Granby Mining Co. When Phoenix became a ghost town, the MacDonald’s were the last family to move out in 1920, going to Cassidy, Vancouver Island, where Mr. MacDonald worked for the Granby company for 13 years. In 1932, the family moved to Grand Forks where they made their home until 1968 when Mr. MacDonald died and his wife moved to Nova Scotia.
