There died at her home at Cape George Point, August 27, Mrs. Christena MacDonald, widow of the late Duncan J. MacDonald, at the age of 89. Mrs. MacDonald had been in failing health for the past two years. During that time she was frequently consoled by the sacraments, and she died a peaceful, happy death surrounded by her family and friends. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom predeceased her. A son Dan W., made the supreme sacrifice in the World War 1914-1918. A woman of sterling character, a kind neighbor and friend, Mrs. MacDonald will be greatly missed in the community where she lived. She leaves to mourn the loss of a devoted mother, two sons, and three daughters; Anthony and Hugh at home; Mrs. Dan W. McDonald, Willow Ave, New Glasgow; Mrs. A.C. Falkenham, Ballantyne’s Cove; Mrs. Valentine Chisholm, Antigonish; also two sisters; Mrs. John MacDonald and Mrs. Catherine MacKinnon, in Boston. The funeral took place August 30, from Holy Rosary Church, Ballantyne’s Cove. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. A.I. MacAdam, P.P., who also officiated at the graveside.
