Mr. Duncan Archie MacDonald, Morar, Antigonish County, passed away in St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish on Friday morning, Oct. 15, 1953 at the age of 67 years.  He had been in ill health for the past three years.  He suffered a stroke and did not rally.  Mr. MacDonald was a kindly neighbor and devout in his attendance at St. George’s Church, Georgeville.  His fine Christian Qualities endeared him to a wide circle of friends.  He was a son of the late John L. and Catherine (MacInnis) MacDonald.  The funeral was held in St. George’s Church in Georgeville, Antigonish County and was very largely attended by friends from the surrounding districts also from Trenton, New Glasgow and Pictou.  The service was conducted by Rev. Father MacNeil, and Hugh Mass was sung by Mrs. William MacDonald of Antigonish.  Interment was in the church cemetery. The pall bearers were:  Francis MacDonald, Beaver Meadows; Andrew MacLean, New Glasgow; Bernard Murphy, Beaver  Meadows; Allan Hughie MacLean, Ohio, Antigonish County; Hugh MacPherson, Livingstone Cove, Antigonish Co.  His wife predeceased him by twenty-four years, leaving  him with a young family of four sons and one daughter.  John R. of Toronto; Danny of Yukon; Hugh lost his life in June 1943, paying the supreme sacrifice in France with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders; Duncan A. of Halifax; Christine (Mrs. James Hughes) Trenton; one brother, Ronald J. of Charlottetown, P.E.I. passed away three weeks later, one sister, Catherine (Mrs. MacLean) passed away in 1943.
