MacDonald – At St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, October 11, 1935, Mrs. Angus MacDonald, nee Gertrude MacNeil, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.X.S Macneil of Iona. Her sudden passing, a bride of ten days, was heard with deep shock and regret by a large circle of friends. MRs. MacDonald, for the past ten years, taught in the various schools of the province where she enjoyed the respect and esteem of both parents and pupils. Her loyalty to her family, her kindness and cheerfulness and many other beautiful traits of her character endeared her to a host of friends who sincerely mourn her passing at an early age. The funeral cortege, which was one of the largest ever seen in the community, wended its way at ten o’clock on Sunday morning from the home of her parents at Iona to St. Columba’s church where services were held by Rev. D. J. Rankin, P.P., who also officiated at the grave. The pall bearers were John Bonner, Collie MacDonald, Hugh MacEachern, Con Morre, Rannie Gillis, Arthur Campbell, Besides her husband she leaves to mourn their loss her sorrowing father and mother, five brothers and one sister: John S., Angus and John at home; Sergt. Roderick MacNeil, Iona; Ronald in C.N.R. office at Sydney; Mrs. Jack Ryan, Iona. A sister died over a year ago. Numerous Mass cards and messages of sympathy were received by the bereaved family.
