Funeral services for the late Hugh Gabriel MacDonald, 84, of the R.K. MacDonald, Nursing Home and Guest House, and formerly of St. Ninian Street, were held this past Monday in St. Ninian’s Cathedral with Rev. R.D. Smith officiating, assisted by Rev. Angus MacGillivray. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Ballantyne’s Cove, at a later date. Mr. Macdonald died February 3 in the Nursing Home. Pallbearers were Joe Chisholm, Sylvester Chisholm, Grant Chisholm, Gus MacInnis, James MacDonald and Alex MacEachern. Born in Cape George Point, he was a son of the late Duncan J. and Christine (MacDonald) MacDonald. He was a fisherman and farmer. He is survived by one sister, Margaret (Mrs. Valentine) Chisholm, Antigonish. He was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.
