There died at Ballantyne’s Cove, April 10, 1946, Hugh “Sandy” MacDonald, aged 83, son of the late Alexander  Duncan and Mary (MacEachern) MacDonald.  Deceased lived at Ballantyne’s Cove all his life and followed fishing and farming.  He was well known along the bay shore for he once operated  the packet to Antigonish.  His wife Mary, daughter of the late Hugh MacAdam, Antigonish Harbor, survives him with three children:  Josephine, Mrs.  Alex Kell, Antigonish; David and Charles at home.  Requiem high Mass was celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, Ballantynes Cove by Rev. A.L. MacAdam, April 12, and interment was made at the cemetery nearby.  The pallbearers were James F. MacEachern, Stephen Macdonald, Colin F. MacDonald, Hudson Poole, Alex R. MacEachern and Leo Roberts.  Deceased had been in failing health for more than a year and died consoled by the last rites of the church.
