MacDonald, Patrick John, age 54, Ballantyne’s Cove. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Pat. Pat worked as a welder in his early years; however, for the past 20 years, he did what he loved most; fish. Pat was the Captain of the ‘Tanya Lynn’ and could be found on the wharf any time of the day, working on his boat and getting things ready for lobster fishing. On the off season, he fished silver sides with his good friend Archie, and built lobster traps. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His smile and laugh brought joy to many. Although a quiet and private man, Pat had many close friends. He lived at home and will be dearly missed by his mother, Isabel.
Besides his mother, he is survived by brothers, Colin V. (Nathalie), Pomquet; Blaise, Ballantyne’s
Cove; Irving (Karen), Medicine Hat, Alta; godsons, Adam and Brandon; and nieces and nephews,
Ryan, Adam, Jack, Katey, Callahan, Colin AP, Sarah Jane, Charlie, and Brayden.
He was predeceased by his father, Augustine; grandparents, Patrick and Sophie Murphy and Colin and Mary Ellen MacDonald, twin niece and nephew, Blaise and Sophie, in infancy; and aunt, Ann MacEachern.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday August 2nd. Funeral Mass will be held in Holy Rosary Church, Ballantyne’s Cove on Friday, August 3rd at 10:00am with Reverend Andrew Boyd presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
