At his home in Ballantyne’s Cove, (Marsh Road), there passed to his eternal reward Alex M. MacEachern at the age of 61 years.  Son of the late Malcolm MacEachern, Sandy as he was familiarly known, was a man who was always ready to lend a helping hand, a tireless worker, industrious and sober, quick to help in all affairs of the community.  During his long illness he frequently received the sacraments of the Church of which he was a devoted member.  He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife (nee Mary K. MacDougall), four sons and three daughters; Albert and Gillis with the armed forces; Hugh B., Malcolm, Mary, Angeline and Margaret at home.  There are also six brothers and five sisters; George, San Francisco; Wendell, Idaho; Archie and Albert in British Columbia; Eddie, Cape George; Eustace, Ballantyne’s Cove; Mary,  (Mrs. Thomas Campbell), Provincetown, Mass.; Elizabeth (Mrs. J. Chisholm), Boston; Catherine (Mrs. M. Squire), Scituate; Angeline (Mrs. W. Malloy, Missouri; Celia (Mrs. R.C. Lew), San Francisco.  Interment was at Ballantyne’s Cove, where requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. A.I. MacAdam.  The pallbearers were Angus MacDougall, J.J. MacDonald, James F. MacEachern, J.D. MacEachern, Neil Gillis and John MacDougall.
