Mrs. L.J. MacEachern.  Annie, wife of Lauchlin J. MacEachern, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1941 at her home, following an illness of a fortnight, at the age of 74.  Daughter  of the late John Beaton, Broad Cove, and Sarah (MacDonald) Beaton, South West Mabou, she was born at Broad Cove, and moved in infancy with her parents to Georgeville.  In 1894 she married Mr. MacEachern, well-known merchant, of Ballantyne’s Cove.  In addition to this Cape George store, Mr. MacEachern also operated one in Inverness, where he, Mrs. MacEachern and the family resided for 15 years.  In 1920 they moved to Antigonish.  Mrs. MacEachern’s rugged qualities of character won for her a warm place in the hearts of all who knew her.  Charitableness in thought and deed, devotion to her family and church, loyalty to her friends, characterized her life.  Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters and two sons; Mrs. J.A. Chisholm, (Sadie), Antigonish; Ruth, Pugwash; Gildersleeve, and D. Lauchlin, Antigonish; besides two sisters, Mrs. J.A. Kennedy, Boston, and Mrs. Mary Gildersleeve, Boston.  The funeral took place at St. Ninian’s Cathedral, and after Mass of requiem the remains were interred at St. Ninian’s cemetery.  The pass bearers were Lauchlin MacLellan, John A MacLeod, James MacDonald, Gregor Myette, Angus MacDonald and Alex P. MacDonald.
