MacEachern, Cecilia “Ann”

4 Dec 2011

MacEachern, Cecilia “Ann”, 63, of Cape George, Antigonish County died peacefully after a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia on December 4, 2011 surrounded by her family.

Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Pat and Sophie (DeYoung) Murphy

Ann received her early education at Lanark School and went on to graduate from St. Andrew Rural High. Following graduation she worked as secretary to the Registrar and Admissions Officer at St. F.X. More recently she was employed at St. Columba Glebe and provided much support to people to keep their homes spotless. Ann had a very strong faith. She was an active member of St. Columba Ladies Guild, the North Shore Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Cape George Heritage Museum and Holy Rosary Altar Society. Ann could be counted on to be the first one on hand to help organize, prepare, work and, then of course, clean up at functions. She was a very selfless, honest, trustworthy and dependable person who will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, of forty-three years, Louie; their children: Michele (Tim Cameron), Lochaber; Margaret (Tristen DeYoung), Antigonish; Michael (Crystal), Antigonish; Murray, Cape George; first grandchild, Hanna Marie; siblings: Mary Jane (Ed Stribrny), Toledo, Ohio; Joe (Lillian), Lanark; Dominic, Montreal; Vincent (Linda), Antigonish; Isabel MacDonald, Ballantyne’s Cove; sister-in-law, Paulette DeYoung, Montreal; and special cousin, Sheila DeYoung-Honeycutt.

She was predeceased by brothers, Dominic and William in infancy; Rudolph “Rudy”; foster sister, Jean Boyd; sister-in-law, Jacqueline “Jackie” Murphy; sisters-in-law, Catherine “Girlina” MacInnis and Carmel Forbes; brother-in-law, Augustine “Gussie” MacDonald.
