MacEachern, Daniel Edward, age 75 of Ballantyne’s Cove, Antigonish County, passed away on October 19, 2022, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Eustace and Margaret Bell MacEachern. Daniel was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan and enjoyed watching boxing, but by far his greatest passion was watching stock car races. He worked for the Department of Transportation for many years, and he was very involved in his community, assisting with the North Shore Fire Department, the Tuna Interpretive Center, the Cape George hiking trails, and the lighthouse. He is survived by his children, Clara (Sandy) Hurst, West River; Steven, West River; and Robert (Christina), Lakevale; grandchildren, Molly Cooper, Kaylee MacEachern, Emily Cooper, Derek MacLean, Lacy MacEachern, Daniel MacLean, Olivia MacEachern, Annabelle MacEachern, and Riley Beaton; siblings, Mary Ray, Cape Cod,
Mass.; Anna MacPherson, Antigonish; Cecilia (Richard) Grant, Antigonish; Jackie (Heather), Cape George; Gerard (Velma), Ballantyne’s Cove; Betty (Ken) Farrell, North Grant; and a large extended family. He will be forever missed by his cat, J.C.
Predeceased by his wife, Lorine; son, Patrick; brothers, Buddy and Walter, in infancy; sister, Eva; and brother-in-law, John Ray. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, Ballantyne’s Cove, with Reverend Andrew Boyd presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. In Memoriam, donations to VON Antigonish or the North Shore Fire Department appreciated.
