MacGillivary, John “Johnny” Alexander

MacGillivray, John Alexander, 73, Lakevale, Antigonish County passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on October 26, 2007 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.  Born in Antigonish, he was the eldest son of the late John Alex and Margaret (Blackburn) MacGillivray.
Johnny was a well respected carpenter and member of his community. He will be fondly remembered for his sharp wit and unique sense of humor.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cathy (Falkenham); five sons: John “Jackie”, Maryvale; Cyril A. (Donna Marie), Truro; Gerard (Karen), Gaspereaux Lake; Melvin (Kathryn), Ballantyne’s Cove; Paul (Charlene), Dartmouth; daughter: Bernice (Eraldo) D’Angelo, Burnaby, B.C.; brothers: Cyril, Addington Forks; Leo (Donalda), Antigonish; Vincent (Bobbi), Arisaig; Allan, Arisaig; Tony, Lanark; Kenneth (Kim) and Phillip (Joan) both of Fort St. James, B.C.; sisters: Mary Deschamps, Antigonish; Kathleen Knocton, Heatherton; Florence (Donald) Collins, Antigonish.  He was predeceased by brothers: Hughie, Frank, Angus, Colin, Gerald, Douglas and Wayne.   Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral will be held in St. Columba Church, Lakevale on Monday at 11:00 am. Burial in the parish cemetery.
