There died at Lakevale, Jan 13, 1944, Caroline MacEachern, widow of the late Angus MacGillivray, at the age of 78. In her passing a virtuous and industrious life came to a close. She was a devout Catholic, kind and charitable, and devoted much of her active life to caring for the sick and helping the needy. She was organist and leader of St. Columba’s choir more than 30 years. She had been sick about a year, tenderly cared for by her son and daughter-in-law, and died consoled by the last rites of the Church. The funeral took place Saturday with burial at Lakevale after requiem Mass at the parish church by Rev. A.I. MacAdam, P.P. Mrs. W.J. MacDonald, Cathedral organist, played and sang the Mass. Deceased was a daughter of the late Donald L. MacEachern, Cape George, and a sister of Dan MacEachern in Seattle; Mrs. Mary MacGillivray, Mrs. Hector MacDonald, and L.J. MacEachern, Antigonish. She was twice married: first to Henry Bailey, who died a few months after their marriage in the U.S.A., and by who she had one son Harry, with whom she lived, and then to Angus, son of John MacGillivray, Lakevale. Pallbearers were Dan W. MacInnis, Bill Delaney, Myles Boyd, P.O. Angus Boyd, Andrew Boyd and Gus MacNeil.
