26 Sep 1935 Johanna MacGillivray (Walsh)
On Sept. 26 at S.S. Cape George, Mrs Johanna MacGillivray widow of the late John MacGillivray, went to the reward of a well spent life of seventy-three years. Mrs. MacGillivray was the daughter of the late Martin Walsh, Fairmont, Antigonish Co. She was a thoroughly Christian woman, a model wife and mother who hesitated before no sacrifice that might be asked of her. She spread joy, cheer and happiness around her. God blessed her with that sunny sympathetic delightful disposition which made friends for her everywhere. She will be widely missed and many will hold her long in loving memory. With the utmost resignation she endured the long, painful illness that caused her death. Her last days on earth were cheered by the constant, loving care of her daughter Selina, R.N. who gave all her time to her beloved mother; and also by the presence at her bed-side of her eldest daughter Sister St. John of Grenada, C.N.D., Sydney; her son John A., and her adopted daughter Margaret. The other members of her family are Mrs. Allan Cameron, Somerville, Mass.; Sister Rita, R.N., of the Sisters of St. Martha, Banff, Alta.; and an adopted son Frank Carrigan in New York. After requiem Mass sung by Rev. Donald Beaton at Lakvale Church, her mortal remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the Lakevale cemetery.
