John Angus MacGillivray, 61, a retired painter of Antigonish, died in St. Martha’s Hospital on February 18. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Arras Branch Royal Canadian Legion. A native of Georgeville, he was a son of John D. and Mary Ann (Brown) MacGillivray. Surviving are five sisters, Catherine (Mrs. Alex MacDonald), Marcella (Mrs. Day Hay) and Mary, all of Antigonish; Anne (Mrs. Fraser MacIsaac), Monreal; and Gertrude (Mrs. Walter Smith), Halifax. Three brothers are already dead. The funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Ninian’s Cathedral on Sunday afternoon. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The pallbearers were Peter Poirier, John Poirier, William Mahoney, Mansfield Falt, Blaise Cameron and Gus Brown.
