1 Apr 1935 Margaret MacGillivray (MacKenzie)
Shortly after Sunday midnight at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, Margaret, the beloved wife of John A. MacGillivray, S.S. Cape George, leaving besides her bereaved husband an infant son seven days old. The deceased who was in her thirtieth year, was a native of Cherryfield, P.E.I. In infancy the death of her parents left her to the care of relatives. AS a young girls he went from P.E.I. to Massachusetts where she lived until last June when she became the wife of Mr. MacGillivray. Nine years ago she was received into the Catholic Church and since that time her life has been a shining example of all for which the word Catholic stands. During several years she was housekeeper for Rev. James H. Phalan, P.P., Somerville, Mass. Although she had come to Cape George as a stranger and her time of residence there was so short, she won by her sweetness of unbounded charity a degree of esteem and affection that is ordinarily the fruit of many years. The unusually large funeral Tuesday morning, April, 2 gave evidence of the esteem in which she was held and of the sympathy of their many friends for the sorrowing husband and the members of his family. To them as to Father Phalan the memories of her will always be sacred.
