New Glasgow – Alexander MacInnis, 79, of Shelburne Street, New Glasgow, died Tuesday in Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Georgeville, Antigonish County, he was a son of the late Daniel and Martha (MacEachern) MacInnis.  He retired after 38 years in the office of Fraser, Mason and Fraser Ltd. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as financial secretary for 28 years.  He was a founding member of the Pictou County association for the Mentally Retarded, serving as the first treasurer. He was a former treasurer of the New Glasgow School Board and of the Holy Name Society of St. John the Baptist Church.  He was an active supporter and worker at camp Bosco in its early years.  He is survived by his wife, the former Mary MUllins; five daughters, Mary Isabel (Mrs. Adrian Armsworthy), Valley; Helen, (Mrs. Brian Murphy), New Glasgow; Irene (Mrs. Joseph Loring), Sudbury;  Joan (Mrs. Edmund Dulong), Yarmouth; Elizabeth, at home; two sons, Alexander (Sandy), Sherwood Park, Alta.; Daniel (Dan), Grand Falls, Nfld.; a sister Isabel MacInnis, Cape George; three brothers, Leo, Georgeville; Giles, Arisaig; Angus R., Moncton; 16 grandchildren.  He was predeceased by an infant daughter; a sister, Sally; three brothers, Hughie, Donald, Lauchie.  The body is in R.A. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.  Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Angus MacDonald officiating.  Burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery.  Donations may be made to the Summer Street Workshop Society or the Nova Scotia Heart Fund.
